Let Your Emotions Flow

Imagine a tap on the emotions you suppress, Each time you turn it, you’re less of a mess!

For so many years

We’ve been suppressing our tears

Holding them deep down inside

And encouraging them to hide

You see many of us were told

That it was better to act cold

‘Do not cry, because that is weak’

‘And you will look like a freak’

Many of us were taught to hold it all in

As to show emotion would be a sin

So that’s what many of us did

Ensured our emotions stayed hid

But what we didn’t know

Is that we’d eventually feel low

And that by suppressing how we feel

Prevented us from being real

And then we find ourselves in the now

Thoughts spinning and pleading how

How did I end up feeling this way?

Scared to have my true say

How can I just let go?

Allow my emotions to naturally flow?

The key is to take your time

And use how you feel as a sign

Know that by releasing your tears

Can let go of many fears

Know that you are not weak

If you allow your tears to speak

Listen to the emotions that you hold

Do not meet them with cold

Meet them with love and compassion

Let this be your new fashion

Imagine a tap on the emotions you suppress

Each time you turn it, you’re less of a mess

Let the tears flow nice and slow

But don’t drown in them or you’ll feel low

And when you’ve just released enough

You’ll feel less rough

Because you’ve just released many tears
